How to Take a Car Seat on a Plane
Turn your car seat into a stroller and wheel your car seat through airports and onto the airplane!
When you have to haul your carry-on luggage through the air port, along with your child, AND the car seat, there are some practical solutions. Here are a couple of products that can put wheels on your child’s car seat and allow you to tow it, with your child seated in it! This eliminates the need to drag the stroller onto the plane too.
The actual practicality of bringing the car seat into the cabin of the plane remains a hotly debated topic, however there is no doubt that you will need that car seat once you arrive at your destination if you plan to go anywhere. And checking a car seat with your luggage often results in a damaged seat (or at least dirty). This provides a way to carry your seat to the gate and at least gate-check your car seat.
Car Seat Travel Trolley
The first car seat wheels device my readers recommend is as a Travel Trolley. This device has the handle and wheels built into it and can be left on the seat while it is in use on the plane.
Car Seat Luggage Strap
Another option for car seat wheels when you travel through an airport is a simple strap-like device called the Car Seat Strap for Luggage. It allows you to just strap the car seat right to your carry-on luggage. Use the luggage wheels that you already are pulling and just double their use.
Kids Fly Safe seat belt system
If dragging a huge car seat into the cabin is not your choice, check your car seat and only deal with a small harness that is used to safely secure your child in the airplane cabin. Using a harness like the Kids Fly Safe safety harness which works with the airplane seat belt system, makes your trip very easy, especially if you have more than one car seat to deal with.
If you check your car seat, you’ll definitely need a car seat cover for it to keep it clean for your baby.
Stay safe, and happy travels everyone!
